Atrophic Vaginitis results from a lack of oestrogen in the vaginal tissues, generally occurring in women after the menopause. It can result in thinning, shrinking and dryness of the vaginal tissues.
Symptoms include itching, burning and pain, including pain or dryness with intercourse.
Treatment can include systemic hormone replacement therapy or topical osetrogen creams or pessaries inserted into the vagina.
